Okay, I know you’re probably thinking that the best time to put a home on the market for sale is from spring to late-summer, and it’s true. That is the time of the year when most homes are sold. But hold on; there’s a lotta good reasons, in fact, great reasons, as to why you may want to consider selling your home during the holidays. For instance, motivated buyers shop for homes all year, including during the holidays. And usually, they are more serious buyers with reasons that they have that dictate buying a home.

Then another reason is that emotions tend to run higher during the holidays. Home buyers usually make a decision to buy based on emotions and how they feel. And it’s definitely a fact that more people are more emotional during the holidays.

Homes are also easier to show during the holidays. The days are shorter, it gets darker earlier, and that narrows the timeframe for people seeing a home and for a seller having to show a home, making it more convenient for the seller. Buyers often have more time and more money available during the holidays, an a lot of vacation time gets taken and a lotta holiday bonuses are given.

It’s a give-and-take kinda season, and homes show better during the holidays. They’re decorated. They’re a warm refuge from the cold. They’re inviting and smell like cookies and pumpkin spice candles. Now, if there’s a fireplace in the home, have it lit. Everyone likes a fireplace with a fire going, and you don’t see a lotta those during the summer.

And one of the best reasons is less competition. Now, let’s face it, most people don’t wanna sell during the holidays, so there are fewer homes listed. Now, fewer homes listed mean less competition, and less competition means the better chances that you have to sell, and with less haggling.

Besides, by definition, it’s a season of cheer and goodwill towards men, not the season of haggling. And Santa sees you when you’re haggling, and he knows when you’re awake, and he’ll put you on the naughty list with the Grinch. Nobody wants that.
